Complex telecom visualized with clarity
↳ Overview
For Bandwidth’s annual Reverb event, we created an explainer video designed to make a highly technical topic feel instantly understandable. STIR/SHAKEN is a framework built to restore trust in voice communication by cryptographically signing and verifying calls, but the real story is what happens in practice: even when carriers and enterprises do everything right, the trust signal can still get lost before it reaches the recipient. That gap—between “verified in theory” and “verified end-to-end”—was the core message Bandwidth needed to communicate clearly to an event audience.
↳ Challenge
The challenge was translating a telecom standard into a narrative people could follow in seconds, without watering down the truth. We needed to establish what STIR/SHAKEN is, why it matters, and why it still fails to carry verification all the way through legacy call paths. At the same time, the piece had to position Bandwidth’s solution as the breakthrough: improving STIR/SHAKEN fidelity through hosted signing services and ensuring IP call data can pass end-to-end so enterprises can actually benefit from the trust they earn.
↳ Solution
Banona Studio led the design and animation, building a clean, modern motion system that made “invisible” mechanisms—signing, authentication, signal loss, and verification—feel visual and intuitive. The story moves from the trust problem, to the real-world breakdown, to Bandwidth’s improvements that enable true verified calling, then closes with a forward-looking view of smarter authentication through industry partnership and AI-assisted methods. The result is a sharp, event-ready explainer that clarifies the problem, frames Bandwidth’s role as an innovator, and ends with a simple call to action: build better, verified calling together.

We translated the STIR/SHAKEN narrative into a simple “trust journey,” following the Reverb event design language provided by Bandwidth to keep everything on-brand. After styleframe approval, we animated with fast WIP checkpoints and polished the pacing, transitions, and micro-movements for an event-ready finish.

The final explainer landed with strong momentum—clear, confident, and perfectly aligned with Bandwidth’s Reverb event language. Bandwidth’s team loved where it was headed and responded, “This is looking great!!!!! Nice job team. Keep up the great work.” - Hannah Prengle (VP of Global Brand & Demand Generation, Bandwidth)
